We are excited to share our newsletter, bringing you stories, updates, and insights on what’s happening at Girl Power globally!
Two months into 2026, at Girl Power, we’ve been busy getting things ready to deliver our programs in Europe and beyond.
Girl Power announces its Board of Directors
We are proud to announce the establishment of the new Board of Directors of Girl Power, an important step in strengthening our governance, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
As Girl Power continues to grow across Denmark, Germany, the UK, Greece, and beyond, our structure must evolve alongside our impact. The formation of this board marks a new chapter in our journey, one rooted in strong leadership, transparency, and collective responsibility.
Our board brings together experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds in sport, governance, finance, leadership, and social impact. Their expertise will support Girl Power in:
- Strengthening strategic direction and long-term vision
- Ensuring financial sustainability and accountability
- Enhancing safeguarding and ethical governance standards
- Expanding partnerships and global collaboration
- Supporting the development of Girl Power Global
This is more than a structural change; it is a commitment to building an organisation that lasts.
As a women-led organisation founded in Denmark in 2016, Girl Power has grown from a grassroots initiative into an international movement empowering girls and young women through sport and leadership. With this new board, we are reinforcing our foundation so that the next generation of young leaders can continue to rise.
We are deeply grateful to our board members for believing in our mission and for standing with us as we move into this next phase.

Girl Power joins the European project Football for a Chance (F4aC)! ⚽
This year, Girl Power is proud to be part of F4aC, a collaborative initiative with partners from Portugal, Cyprus, and Germany that uses football as a powerful tool for social inclusion, healthy lifestyles, career development, and community well-being.
The project focuses on individuals who face barriers to participation, aiming to strengthen inclusivity, gender sensitivity, and social diversity across football and community spaces.
The first transnational project meeting took place in Cologne, where partners aligned on the project’s vision and next steps. Our team member, Habiba Kamal, represented Girl Power and helped shape the roadmap ahead.
Through F4aC, Girl Power will support the creation of:
- A digital learning app
- Educational resources on nutrition and personal development
- Career pathway guidance in football
- Training materials promoting inclusive and equitable football practices

Girl Power highlighted in UEFA Refugee Inclusion toolkit
We are truly honoured to see Girl Power's work featured as a case study in the newly developed refugee inclusion toolkit by UEFA.
This toolkit is an important step forward in supporting football clubs across Europe to create safer, more inclusive environments for refugees, using football not only as a game, but as a bridge to belonging, dignity, and opportunity.
For us at Girl Power Organisation, this recognition means a great deal. It reflects years of working alongside refugee girls and women, clubs, federations, and community partners to ensure that inclusion is not symbolic, but practical, structured, and sustainable.
Inclusion is not a side project in football.
It is central to the future of our game.
